About "How's my driving?"

Do public utility jeepney drivers and taxi drivers read blogs? I purposely made this blog for them, as a reminder that they are part of the public and mass transport. They seem to forget that hundreds of Cebuanos—and Filipinos—ride their vehicles daily. And their top priority should be safety, not the penny.

Do rich boys and girls know how to drive? This blog documents my funny and serious experiences on the road, driving my long-time battered van behind big cars with big wheels and shining vinyl. Yep, they can be found in Cebu, too.

Can big truck drivers see compact minis from their seats? I made this blog to emphasize on the importance of road safety. After all, the roads—not exempting Cebu’s narrow (“sidewalkless”) streets—are among the most dangerous places in the world.

“How’s my driving?” is the bumper sticker of most taxi and PUJs, in reference to the driving services offered for the commuting public. I will answer this question through this blog.

What’s up with that? Anyway, I started blogging 2006 and I officially started this blog last June 2006 (HOMIGAD! I forgot that I just had surpassed 4 years of blogging. Here was my first post).

I bought the domain TambayanBox.org cause I wanted to feature Cebu Bands, Cebu Events, Places, Gigs and others. Yes, I was one of the pioneers (I think. Long before most bloggers did it.) who featured these stuffs. I had a vision for the site and I did get a decent following specially from bands. My biggest problem was, the site was hard-coded. Pure HTML and CSS! At that time, I thought using CMSes was not “ethical”. I acted like a wannabe-HTML-CSS-purist! I have managed to get the backup of the site running again for evidence’ sake! Here is the old Tambayanbox.org site.

Due to that, I ended up not being able to easily update the site! So, I tried to create a subdomain, blog.tambayanbox.org (was named [d'MusicBox]* for more than 3 years and was just changed to [TambayanBox]* lately to slowly migrate the site to the original domain but I changed my mind), to house my personal ramblings and all the shiznit using Wordpress. I ended up loving Wordpress and all my attention was put to the new personal site and added more Wordpress blogs and it spelled death for TambayanBox.org - "The Real Online Tambayan". DEATH! I had a big vision that also largely failed (maybe because of that cheesy tagline)!

I attended SM Cyberzone’s Tech fair the other week at SM City Cebu. To start off, I wasn’t pleased at how the marketing team crafted the event. In fact, I heard it wasn’t even SM’s marketing department who organized the event, even though Cyberzone is one of SM’s projects.

Nonetheless, it took me some time to figure out where the event was as it wasn’t even at SM Cyberzone, Northwing! It was situated on the ground floor of the main mall which is in fact a poor location as it doesn’t target the right market (SM Main Mall targets C and D class). However, the third party PR Company (I don’t understand why SM Marketing couldn’t handle it especially with their men power) explained that the reason behind the event not being held at SM Cyberzone, Northwing Cebu was due to the lack of space. I highly doubt that as there was much room available in the Cyberzone area during that day.

To be simply said, and in my outmost frankness, the event was hopeless and crap! I expect that the next time SM decides to hold a “technology fair” under its own product, SM Cyberzone, I suggest they put more effort, time, research and marketing into it. And for goodness sake place it in the right location.

How I Make Money From Adsense (Detailed Guide) - I hit $1,000 na! :)

Hi Guys!

Kamusta? First of all, I would like to apologize for not being able to attend most of the events and a big congratulations to our new set of officers! So happy! I'm still in the US and naa ko mga pasalubong! haha. Naa unta ko gimmick for our BBQ part at my place but anyway, I got extended here in the US. Might take me months before I will go to Cebu again

So what has been keeping me busy? As you might have noticed, I my blog has not been getting much updates lately because I have busy trying out a new technique in SEO from a coaching program. It has literally helped me out a lot and have attained my target income of $800-$1000 per month. I'm not Bragging about my earnings ha. Just want to share that the techniques WORK!

There is a lot of misconception now with earning in Adsense especially with blogging. As we all know, John Chow and Problogger are some of the most popular high earning bloggers in the blogosphere and they earn a lot. So most of us (aminin! haha) try to follow them.

The usual strategy is to:
- Start a blog about something your passionate about. (mostly start with Making money online blogs)
- Get popular / be a leader in your niche.
- Connect with people / comment in other blogs in your niche / Socialize.
- Link exchange with other blogs.
- Watch you traffic increase.
- Then boom! Earn money through Ads!

Well, as we have learned the HARD way. It's doesn't work that way. It's true. People make money from this strategy but it's really really hard. You need to consistently blog and network with other people. Also, since we network with other bloggers, they DON'T click the ads because they know that they are ads. Diba diba?

So WHAT IS THE BEST STRATEGY THEN?

The best strategy is the REVERSE STRATEGY. Instead of starting a blog on something you are passionate about, you "research" first what topic or keywords can be profitable for you.

That website topic should have the following:
- It is highly searched by people. Meaning even if you DON'T promote your website, you will get traffic from search engines like Google or Yahoo.
- It is a HIGH Paying Keyword meaning. Meaning you can earn a lot even from just 1 click. Imagine having a lot of traffic and clicks but only earning cents per click.
- It has low competition. Meaning you can beat that websites that are currently ranking for that keyword.

So with that in mind, HOW EXACTLY can I find a good topic or keyword? Well, we will use a TOOL.

Use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. By using this tool, we will find everything we need to find in a good keyword.

Try opening it now. Fill in a keyword you like and enter the CAPTCHA and press "Get Keyword Ideas". You get something like this:

As you can see, I inputted the keyword "clocks" so the tool returned a bunch of clock related keywords along with additional information on each keyword. The keyword is in the left column and the Average Search Volume that we need is on the right most column under Global Monthly Search Volume.

Important Fact: As is, this isn’t all of the information we need so we’re going to do some configuration to the tool.

The first thing we need to do is click the drop down menu labeled "Match Type". We need to change it from "Broad" to "Exact". A broad-match search for clocks in this case would return the total search volume of all keywords that contained the word "clocks". In other words, "cuckoo clocks" and "grandfather clocks" would be added to the total and this isn’t what we want. We want to know how many times the keyword "clocks" itself is searched for without the addition of any other keywords.

We also want to change the columns around a little bit. I usually hide the Advertiser Competition column and the search volume for the last month. This can be done by clicking the drop-down labeled "Choose columns to display" and clicking "Hide Advertiser Competition" and then clicking "Hide Approx Search Volume". Note: Hiding those two columns isn’t essential to the method; it just cleans up the results a bit.

We then want to add the column that shows us how much advertisers are paying for each keyword. We can do that by clicking "Show Estimated Avg. CPC" in the "Choose columns to display" drop-down. We’re not going to use the CPC until later, but we still want to show it now. So, your screen should now look something like this:

Alright! So as you can see, the search volumes have now gone down quite a bit and that’s good. Mao ni atong ganahan. The exact-match search numbers are the ones we want to look at.

At this point in the process, all we’re trying to do is figure out lang how many times per month each keyword is searched for, and we want to record that data with a spreadsheet (or you could write it down too). Ideally, we should be looking for keywords that are searched more than 3,000 times per month (remember - the Adwords keyword tool needs to be set to “Exact Match”).

Give it a try. Try looking for keywords and download it as an excel file. It will look something like this:

After you’ve run a bunch of keywords with the tool, you will have a nice, large spreadsheet with lots of keyword options. Some of these might work but many of them will not. The people that make the most money with keywords are willing to look at a LOT of keywords to find the ones that are worthwhile. (Build your keyword list now. Your keyword list is your own personal gold mine. If you build it then you can dig the precious metal out of it.)

KEYWORD RANK-ABILITY and Checking Your Competition

So after that, we will then analyze our keywords. The truth is you can outrank internet marketing companies - and anybody else - if you master a few simple techniques.

The biggest key to successfully getting ranked high in Google is choosing only keywords that you can rank for. That probably means forgetting about the home run keywords like "clocks" and going for the easier ones.

So this is what you need:

Install the SEO for Firefox extension plugin. (You can download it by clicking this. You need to be using Mozilla Firefox as your browser)

Using this plugin, you will be able to get the information you need to analyze your competition directly from the Google results. After installing, when you search for a keyword, this is what you will see:

As you can see, each listing has a lot of extra information below it and this information can be very helpful when we’re trying to analyze competition.

So what you should do is take a look at the PageRank (PR) of each page that currently ranks for a keyword that you're considering. As we all know, Google uses a lot more than PR to calculate rankings, but looking at the PR of each page gives us an idea of how strong they are and helps us to determine whether we can realistically beat the competition.

To find the PR of each of these pages, we’re going to have the click the little question mark (?) next to where it says "PR", below each listing. The SEO for Firefox extension will then find and display the corresponding PRs.

What you should do is take a look at the top four or five results to determine whether you can beat the competition or not.

In this case, we looked up the keyword "large clocks", and after I click the PR question marks, we can see the PR of the top few rankings. Since this keyword has Google shopping results at the third (we always ignore shopping results when it comes to analyzing competition), the ranking numbers are off. The #3 site is showing as #4, the #4 site is showing as #5, and so on.

Here’s a screenshot of what the results look like with the SEO for Firefox extension:

So we have a PR1, PR1, PR2 and PR3 as our competition. The keyword looks achievable and the competition can be beaten.

Now, these guidelines aren’t going to be hard and fast rules, but they will help us understand the basics so that you can choose your keywords effectively. Here are some basic rules that you want to follow for each PR rating you could see:

PR0 – We know we can easily outrank PR0s almost every time.

PR1 – We know we can easily outrank PR1s almost every time.

PR2 – We know we can easily outrank PR2s almost every time, but not as easily as we could outrank PR0s and PR1s.

PR3 – We can usually outrank PR3s, but they will sometimes take a lot more work than we expected. These will be a lot easier to target if you have a site that’s already PR3 or higher.

PR4s – These pages are generally quite strong and will be difficult to beat unless we know the keyword isn’t being targeted properly. If the keyword isn’t in the page title (known as the HTML title), it’s a sign of weakness and lets us know that the site owner isn’t aware of the keyword.

As I have seen, most people are too lazy to figure out whether they can rank for a keyword before they go after it, so they are constantly spinning their wheels. Before too long they have tried to go after hundreds of different keywords that are totally unrealistic. The few that understand this process are able to make money with the majority of keywords they go after.

By now you should have your own list of keywords, so it’s time to go through it to determine which ones you can realistically search for. We usually mark the ones we know we can rank for green, the ones that are of medium difficulty (these are the PR3s and PR4s) orange, and the ones that are too difficult (PR5+) red.

So after checking the competition, you will get something like this:

Finding Out Whether Your Keywords Have Value or Not

The last thing we need to look at before we give a keyword the "Go Signal!" is whether we can make money with it or not. This is something I made a lot of mistakes with. I thought basta daghan traffic, it will convert to EARNINGS. But if a keyword has no value, spending the time to rank for it would be worthless. We should never go after a keyword unless we know that it has value.

The Google tool we used earlier is the best indicator that will help us see whether we can make money with a keyword or not. The tool shows the amounts that advertisers are currently paying to buy traffic from Google. If the tool says that the CPC (cost-per-click) for a keyword is $1 it means that there is an advertiser that’s willing to pay Google $1 for each visitor they get.

Some keywords have really low CPCs and others have spectacularly high ones. We usually look for keywords whose estimated average CPC is over $1.

No matter how you plan to make money with your keyword traffic, this tool can help you to find out whether a keyword has value.

Okay, think about it for a just a minute. If the CPC is $2 it means that an advertiser can make more than $2 for each person that comes to his site. Chances are he’s not going to keep buying clicks for $2 if he’s only making $1 for each visitor he buys.

It's great to use Google Adsense to monetize our keyword traffic because it’s the easiest way on the planet to make money. Once you sign up for Adsense, Google basically gives you access to their network of hundreds of thousands of advertisers. You place their ads on your site and get paid whenever one of your visitors clicks on one of their ad units.

If the CPC in the Google Adwords Keyword Tool is $2, you can expect to make around $0.50 for each click you can produce.

Tip: You can expect to get somewhere in the neighborhood of 25% of the Adwords CPC for an Adsense click on your site.

Making This into a REAL BUSINESS

Internet marketing or online business is not for everyone. It's a bit different than blogging. (Actually advantage for us bloggers kay we have foundation na on site building) But if you are dedicated and really consider this as a business, well you can earn $1,000 per month or more PASSIVELY. Because once your site is ranking and earning money, even if you take a month's vacation touring around the world (or US?), your site still makes money. ^^

Wow! That was a Loooong post. I hope you guys appreciate it. If you guys are REALLY SERIOUS in making this into a REAL Long Term Business. Then consider taking advantage of these tools:

These are what I personally use and they really work!
1. NicheRefinery - tool that automates finding "good profitable" keywords. It computes for the monthly potential earnings (very conservative computation) and analyzes the competition. Fast and accurate. There is a tutorial on how to do it.

2. PostRunner - tool to guestpost on 600+ (and growing) websites on different IP addreses to get links. A lot of the websites are big sites that have PR2-PR5 sites. Very reliable to boost your rankings.

All of these tools are from The Keyword Academy. This is the training course I enrolled for only $1 which have tripled my earnings in Adsense. (Ayaw lang xa mo saba para di ta ma taxan sa BIR) haha. (Woohoo!)

How can this help me?
- Step by step videos on what to do from start to finish. (Trust me. They are very detailed and clear sa video) It has a timeline on what you need to do from Keyword Research, Setup Sites (or Add contents to your site) and Link Building.
- TOOLS that you cannot find anywhere else. They have programmed the tools themselves plus they explain how it works.
- Training to help you setup new sites for new keywords or use the tools to boost traffic and ranking of your current blogs.
- Forum for support and tips from other people earning more than $5,000+ per month using THE SAME technique.

Try it! $1 ra bitaw. They use PayPal so it's easy to pay. I highly recommend it. Best of all you can access everything for the $1 sign up that would last for one whole month. After that it's $67 though you can cancel anytime.

At first I was really hesitant pud because $67 is WHOLE LOT OF MONEY. But I tried it considering $1 (P50) raman ang trial. See it for yourself!

They also have an affiliate program but you need to be a member first before you can refer people. So please click my link when you guys register. Actually I'm so confident that you guys will love it that I'll personally pay you back the $1 if you test it out for a month and tell me nga wala mo naganahan.

Just shoot me an email or through my blog or facebook. ^^

Good luck! Miss you guys!
