Last November 6 and 7, the first Visayan Woodstock-Inspired Music Festival was held in Cebu. The Family Park at Talamban, Cebu was crowded by more than a thousand concert-goers and campers alike, who enjoyed to the music of 70 bands from different genres. The Visayan Music Festival featured the performances of Cebu’s homegrown bands: URBANDUB, THE LINE DIVIDES, DICE AND K9, POWERSPOONZ, JUNIOR KILAT, KANDAGYAN, SHEILA AND THE INSECTS and guest bands from Mindanano, Bohol and Metro Manila.

The bands played one after the other continuously; literally non-stop, which the audience loved. Although it rained during the first night, it never held everyone from jamming with the bands. You see people on their feet, punching into the air, jumping up and down and headbanging. Some of the braver ones, climbed the stage to join the bands.

At the opposite side of the field was where the tents were pegged. The attendees who chose to stay in this area still enjoyed music inside their cozy canopies. There were also huge tents nearby where the crowd can also hang out for food and booze. Wherever you were situated that night, you were never too far away from fun. It was a remarkably peaceful night with the crazy yet disciplined audience.

Several members of the Cebu Bloggers Society were there to have fun too. Read more about their experience here at Atty. Ethelbert Oano’s web portal.

With the aim to promote the growing talent in the Visayas, the two-day event proved to be a success.
