CBS Supports World Vision – Apila Ko!

World Vision has announced its launching and expansion in the Queen City of the South last May 19, 2010 at Cafe Laguna, The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu together with Ms. Nikki Gil, World Vision Ambassador. The press conference provided an opportunity for Ms. Nikki Gil to speak about her active involvement in World Vision’s Child Sponsorship program and to encourage more Cebuanos to become sponsors in providing every child the fullness of life.  In the morning she also visited children and their families in Umapad, Mandaue City, Cebu.

“I imagine Filipino kids finishing school, with exciting futures, full of opportunities…this is my world vision.”…

“Poverty is the most unfair thing that can happen to a child because they are born to it and have no choice. Now, those of us who are more blessed are given the opportunity to create change,” Niki shares.

Nikki has made a commitment to help the plight of poor children and advocate for their rights. She hopes to see their needs firsthand and be their voice to the country and get as many Filipinos to help out children in need.

To revive their campaign, a grand launching of the My World Vision Cebu Back to School Campaign: “Apila Ko!” was then held at Ayala Center Cebu’s Activity Center immediately after the presscon.

For almost 10 years now, World Vision Philippines has been commissioning the time, talent and influence of some of the biggest names in Philippine Entertainment, believe it or not, for FREE! And all of them are Child Sponsors, too! Celebrities such as Sam Milby, Sam Concepcion, Miriam Quiambao, Marc Nelson to name a few are Child Sponsors!

About World Vision:

World Vision is an international Christian relief, development and humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by providing children access to proper education, good health and nutrition, values formation and children’s participation and leadership development.

In 2008, World Vision expanded its marketing operations to Cebu City due to its vast potential of opportunities for growth in development work but due to manpower limitations, marketing operations temporarily ceased. This year, World Vision has revived its campaign here in Cebu City and this time, they’re staying for good.

World Vision partners with children and the communities among the poorest areas to help improve lives and combat poverty. For more information visit their portal HERE.

Count Them In/Apila ko!

Millions of children are saying “Count me in!” this June. Worldwide, 72 million children are unschooled. In the Philippines, 10.9 million children live in poverty, most of whom are forced out-of-school.

But this June these children are asking to be counted in back to school. World Vision hopes to give as many children the opportunity to learn in school through its Child Sponsorship Program.

By providing poor children in many of the most impoverished provinces in the country with the opportunity to get an education, receive healthcare assistance, protection from abuse, and livelihood opportunities for their families they are equipped with more chances to have a better life ahead.

So, COUNT THEM IN! Send a child to school this June! Visit the World Vision booth NOW in Ayala Center Cebu until the end of June! You can choose to Sponsor a ChildUse your Voice and/or be a Volunteer! It only takes Six hundred pesos per month to sponsor a child.
