Gawad Kalinga Build in Dumanjug, Cebu
Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend? Instead of spending a large portion of your wealth and time frolicking at the beach or strolling around the mall, why not offer it to help our less privileged brothers and sisters?
Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine-based poverty alleviation and nation-building movement, has been doing their share of restoring the dignity of the poor by beautifying their areas and building homes for them. To date, GK has built around 2,000 communities all over the country in varying stages of maturity.
One of the GK communities here in Cebu is the JP Garcia Foundation GK Village in Bitoon, Dumanjug, which was launched in 2005. This coming Sunday, May 15, 2011 (8am-3pm), the Gawad Kalinga Cebu Chapter is going to the area to hold a SAGIP Program for the kids and perform a site clean-up and other building activities.
If you want to join the build, please contact Bonsai at 09229374781 or Mikyu at 09335281650 for more information. In a country that needs a lift, it’s never too late to offer a hand and be a Gawad Kalinga volunteer.
