Run for Home - Run for Gawad Kalinga

The first time I ran in a marathon was last 2010 during Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Run for Life which benefited MCCI’s medical mission and the Dasig Kabataan Foundation. This year, another marathon is gonna be held in Cebu — the Globe Run4Home, one of the biggest and most awaited running events in the country with the many innovations it pioneered in Philippine marathon history.

For this event, Globe taps previous Run4Home beneficiary Gawad Kalinga to help raise funds for its housing development project for the Sendong victims in Iligan.

The marathon is on March 25, 2012 (Sunday) at the Cebu International Convention Center with routes passing through Cebu South Coastal Road, Plaza Independencia, Sergio Osmeña Boulevard, and Quirino Avenue, with the following registration fees per category (the most affordable registration rates ever in Globe Run4Home history, making the running event more accessible to the growing running community, especially in Cebu):

• 21K – Php700
• 15K – Php600
• 10K – Php500
• 5K – Php400
• 3K – Php300

A portion of the runners’ registration fees will be donated to their beneficiary of choice to support their respective advocacies and programs. Since I’ve been a volunteer of Gawad Kalinga for almost a year now, I pledge to run for Gawad Kalinga, and I hope you will run for GK, too! 🙂

To register, you may visit www.run4home.race-registration-now.com and register there, or you may go to 1st Level, Paseo de Ciudad, Ayala Center, Cebu from February 1 to March 16 and fill up the registration form, then pay in cash for individual or group (group registrants [buy 4 and get 1 free] should run in the same category). Once the registration process has been completed, a runner’s kit will be given. This includes the following items:

• Singlet (sizes will be subject to availability)
• D-tag (RFID Timing Chip)
• Race Bib Number
• Finishers medal for 21K
