Cebu City Plays Host to Aéropostale's 6th Store in the Philippines
Fashion becomes even more exciting with the addition of American retail giant, Aéropostale, in our local shopping scene. Exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., Aéropostale opened its 6th store in Cebu this April 2014.
The history of the name Aéropostale dates back to the 1920’s. Compagnie Generale Aéropostale, a pioneer airmail company, was the first ever to fly between France, South Africa, and South America; most definitely a spectacular achievement for its day. The early Aéropostale stores even captured the essence of this airmail voyage both in the original store design and in the aviation styled leather bomber jackets that they sold.
Opened in 1987, Aéropostale has always represented a sense of adventure, achievement and dedication. Today, Aéropostale had become one of the fastest growing and most recognized specialty retailers of casual apparel and accessories, for the young, trendy teens. With price range that is easy on the pocket, they can enjoy high-quality and fashion forward pieces that are staples in every wardrobe.
A mall-based, specialty retailer of casual apparel and accessories, Aéropostale’s clients range from 14 to 18 year-old girls and guys who prefer a selection of high-quality, active-oriented, fashion basic merchandise at compelling values. Aéropostale maintains control over its proprietary brands by designing, marketing and selling all of its own merchandise.
The brand also opened a new concept store at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, Long Island, New York in October 2012. This new and impressive store concept evokes a vintage-feel with New York-inspired artwork, and features innovative, current technology to engage its teen shoppers aiming to make an emotional connection with its customer.
This new concept store is divided into unique zones: Entry and Fashion rooms, where customers can view the latest fashion collection, Swing room for different selection of jeans and denim pieces, Heritage room for the logo classic and graphic tees and hoodies; the fun and flirty Girls room, which customers will find tucked at the back of the store, will be the girls’ haven for a great selection of underwear, yoga and dorm items.
Each of the store’s five dressing rooms has a New York City neighborhood-inspired theme: “Soho”, “Williamsburg”, “West Village”, “East Village”, and “Park Slope”, all designed to highlight the personalities of these boroughs while connecting with the Aéropostale shoppers.
The store’s vibrantly colored fixtures paired with dark wood, exposed brick and state-of-the-art lighting provide both contrast and dimension, giving the store a warm and inviting feel. Framed vintage-looking chalkboards will double as the Community board to keep customers in the loop with the many fun and exciting activities Aéropostale has lined up for the year.
The store design is a collaboration between Aéropostale’s internal team and award winning, Montreal-based design and consulting firm, GH+A Design.
With its brand heritage and New York roots, Aéropostale is sure to be the next fashion hot spot in the Metro.
In the Philippines, Aéropostale is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) with stores in Glorietta 2, Robinsons Magnolia, Shangri-La Plaza East Wing, Robinsons Manila Midtown Wing, SM Lanang Davao, SM Megamall Mega Fashion Hall and Ayala Center Cebu.
