Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort: Coming Together at 21

Last July 21, 2010, Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort celebrated its 21st anniversary, dubbed as “Coming Together at 21″.

Maribago Bluewater is one of the most popular and top-class beach resorts here in Central Visayas. It is located at Mactan Island, Lapulapu City, Cebu. Being on its 21st year of existence in providing a world class and quality accommodation and vacation services to its locals and foreign tourists is indeed, something to be proud of!

Consul Arcadio Alegrado, Chairman of the Board of Bluewater Resorts and Hotels Management, Inc., welcomed everyone to the celebration. On behalf of his wife and children, who are now running the resort, he extended his gratitude to those who made Maribago Bluewater what it is today. It was then followed by an audio-visual presentation called “Moving Forward”, made by Maribago Bluewater General Manager Rhyz Buac.

What started out as a weekend getaway resort for the Alegrado family, 2 million patrons have passed through and 1 million guests have stayed at the Maribago Bluewater since it opened its doors on July 21, 1989. “Having been with the resort for 20 years, I personally saw how this simple beach property evolved into this lush paradise.” says Mr. Buac.

 

How has Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort changed through the years?

  • Maribago Bluewater started with only 40 employees. Now, they have more than 350 of which 9 of them have been there since the very beginning!
  • Maribago Bluewater started with a land area of 2 hectares. Now, it has grown to 7 hectares.
  • Maribago Bluewater started with only 32 rooms. Now, they have 158 rooms and suites.
  • Maribago Bluewater’s Beach and Garden Wing Rooms have been updated with a contemporary Filipino look.
  • Maribago Bluewater has renovated and added restaurants, including the new Molto Italiano and Cove – which is arguably the best live seafood restaurant in Cebu.
    TRIVIA: Cove has played host to 4 Philippine Presidents.
  • Maribago Bluewater has improved menu offerings, focusing on quality and expanded selections.
  • Maribago Bluewater was declared the overall winner in the Cebu Goes Culinary Competition in 2006, with an all-Filipino team besting the international chains.
  • Maribago Bluewater has extablished the Amuma Spa – a full-service spa featuring pampering Filipino therapies, including their signature treatment – the Amuma Hilot.

Twenty-one years of excellence… twenty-one years and still counting. Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort has redefined Filipino service for 21 years and for that, 21 pioneering employees and industry suppliers were given recognition on the night of the celebration.

Filipino Cultural Presentations were showcased for all the guests, including well-known personalities from Cebu. The dinner buffet was then opened with performances by the Cebuano band, “Hardwood”and raffle prizes were given away.

Looking forward, Maribago Bluewater commits to continue their mission of providing the best in Filipino hospitality and lifestyle experience, coupled with world-class facilities and amenities. In line with that, they will continue with the renovations and upgrading of their facilities to meet customer needs and trends including the completion of their beach and garden wings with upgraded amenities. They’ll also be building luxury villas with private wade pools and butler service. On top of that, Maribago Bluewater also wishes to provide for families on vacations and design accommodations and facilities for their junior guests.

And since a beach resort’s primary concern is the beach itself, Maribago Bluewater promises to be relentless in Ocean Care to protect the seas and natural resources. In line with that, they have a “Blue Goes Green” program which aims to preserve the environment and conserve water resources. They’re pursuing to strengthen such campaign for a brighter future for the resort and the overall tourism industry.
