HELP CDO AND ILIGAN: Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. extends hands to typhoon victims

The recent flashflood in Northern Mindanao claiming hundreds of lives and now almost thousands mostly in the cities of Cagayan De Oro and Iligan is the catastrophe of the year in the Philippines. Typhoon Sendong has brought havoc in a very unexpected way and has left tragic remnants including dead bodies floating in torrents of water and others lying in muddy earth.

Crises abound in those areas. Residences of the Northern Mindanao towns and cities are now dwelling in hostile environment, still full of debris. Potable water is unavailable, while others are still recovering from the trauma brought upon by the calamity.

Funeral parlors run out of coffins forcing the local government of Iligan to hold a mass burial for other corpses.

It is a very tragic sight to behold watching the news shows on TV and online, streaming updates on the recent count of dead bodies and the post-tragedy dramas and depressing realities.

What makes it more saddening is that this tragedy occurred a week before the supposedly happiest day of the year for most Filipinos.

Imagine spending Christmas gleefully with your family this year while others spend the holiday in evacuation centers on those hard-hit areas.

Yes, many of us are lucky we have been spared from the typhoon. Meanwhile, others have to fend for food so they can at least find a way for their Noche Buena to be as meaningful as they seem to be, albeit the sufferings they’ve been going through.

Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. is in solidarity with CDO Bloggers and Iligan Bloggers in extending aid to the victims of Typhoon Sendong.

This is a part of the organization’s Bloggers Social Responsibility, socially and generously connecting with the organizations and communities that provide direct help to the victims of typhoon Sendong in the tragedy-stricken areas.
