Nancy Cudis bags Blogger of the Year in first Cebu Media Excellence Awards

Nancy Cudis, a member of the Cebu Bloggers Society Inc. (CBSi), bagged the Blogger of the Year (a special award) during the first Cebu Media Excellence Awards last Sept. 18. The awards is one of the highlights of the 18th Cebu Press Freedom Week.

Her winning entry is her review of the graphic novel, The Mythology Class, by Filipino writer and artist Arnold Arre.

Nancy is the only female blogger out of the five finalists. The other finalists who vied for the award are Bert Padilla of cebutechblogger.com, Dr. Narciso Tapia of Cebumd.com, Vernon Go of vernongo.com and Jaysee of Jayseeblabs.com.

People from the media and the blogosphere have congratulated Nancy for a well-deserved award. A former business reporter for a local newspaper, Nancy devoted her weekdays as communications specialist for media and public relations for a reputable non-government organization in Cebu. She pursues her Master’s in Media Studies at a local university on Saturdays and blogs on Sundays.

Her blog, Simple Clockwork (www.nancycudis.com), which has the tagline, “sorting our complexities in life, love, and books”, is a journal of her personal advocacies–books, Philippine literature, reading, and literacy. A book blogger, her reviews on literary works have attracted readers from the Philippines and other countries. She also writes short stories. One of her accomplishments as a reviewer is when an excerpt of her book review of Richard Due’s “Moon Coin” saw print on the back flap of the book.

She is currently Vice President-Internal of CBSi. With Geezelle Tapangan, also a CBSi member, she recently created the Cebu Book Club, an online-based group of eclectic readers from different parts of the country but mostly from Cebu.

Aside from Cebu Media Excellence Awards, she is also one of the nine finalists of the Good Blog Awards, a nationwide search of good blogs organized by the Gadgets Magazine. Her other prestigious award is the Cebu Archdiocesan Mass Media Awards for Best News Writing in 2009.

Nancy will be one of the speakers during the Social Good Summit Cebu on Sept. 22, 2012, with the topic: “Inspiring Change in Blogging and Social Media”.
