"Akong Bugsay" Children's Book Launching
Last February 19, 2013, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. published a bilingual picture book that has a timeless lesson for both kids and adults to ponder on. “Akong Bugsay” or “My Paddle” is a story of a young and curious boy named Andoy who went fishing with his father and learned valuable lessons on the way. Andoy learned that in order for us to achieve what we want, we must plan first then work hard to achieve the goal we have set. The story of this book was based on the Bugsay Principle that Roberto E. Aboitiz, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) President, has formulated.
The author of the book is the very beautiful and vibrant Miss Amaya Aboitiz. She actually grew up in Cebu City, studied abroad, and taught children in Boston, Manila, and Madrid. She got her Master’s at Harvard University with a degree of International Education Policy. She is currently working Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund (DACF) which is focused on early childhood care and development.
The very creative and talented Karmina T. Cuzon is the illustrator of the children’s book. She is currently a third year Fine Arts student at the University of San Carlos with major in advertising. She has made numerous art works already, and her works have been in exhibit in the Visayas. She is one of the pioneers of RAFI’s Young Minds Academy and a delegate of Young Minds on Xplore to the Netherlands.
