McDonald's Gave 5 Million Reasons to Smile During the National Breakfast Day

The National Breakfast Day was a massive success for McDonald’s, as 5,000 of their stores from across various regions (Asia, Middle East and South Africa) have actively participated in serving epic number of free McMuffins last March 18; 5 million to be exact. McDonald’s opened about 300 of its stores in the Philippines early in the morning just for National Breakfast Day. Each participating store gave out free McMuffins for the first 1000 customers, whether they were for dine-in, take-out, or drive-thru.

Numerous customers were already lining up by 4 AM to grab the free treat. Social media was full of buzz as netizens and even celebrities were game in uploading photographs and good reactions about the event while using the official hashtag #nationalbreakfastday, which was the number 1 trending topic of Twitter on the same day.

The first McMuffin in McDonald’s Greenhills branch was served by none other than Kenneth Yang, CEO and President of McDonald’s Philippines, and Dave Hoffman, McDonald’s APMEA President.

Kenneth Yang shares, “This was a momentous event for McDonald’s not only in the Philippines but for the whole region. We were very happy to see hundreds of thousands of Filipino customers arrive bright and early in our stores to celebrate National Breakfast Day with us. We hope that with this event, we helped motivate more people to start their day right with a positive energy and delicious breakfast at McDonald’s.”
