The Stage is Set for Kadaugan Street Party 2013
Upon its genesis about 3 years ago, Kadaugan Street Party (KSP) has been Lapu-Lapu City’s grandest celebration wherein various fun-filled and exciting activities will fill 2 days of one’s mundane life. Because of the great success seen in the previous celebrations, Kadaugan Street Party has been dubbed as one of the most-awaited festivals. The festival will bear the official Twitter hashtags of #kadaugan2013 and #streetparty2013.
Last year’s massive Kadaugan success was marked by multitudinous list of mini-events and activities for all party goers. The organizers, delighted by the amazing turnout of the previous events, promised to bring the festivities a notch higher, giving more entertainment for the kids and kids at heart.
The Bulakna Pageant and Higante Contest are one of the major highlights which will happen on April 26, 2013. Beautiful ladies will overwhelm your visual senses as they will parade the venue. The title-holder will be crowned as Reyna Bulakna, the star of the Kadaugan Festival, and will receive Php 20,000.
The crowd will surely be delighted to see giants on the streets, stirring their imagination, making adults feel young again and kids stay as kids. The victor of the Higante Contest will receive Php 50,000 while the second, third, fourth, and fifth placers will each receive Php 35,000, Php 20,000, Php 15,000, and Php 10,000. The 6th-10th placers on the other hand will get Php 5,000 each.
April 27 will be the main highlight of all the festivities. All roads will be closed and will lead to Rampada, dance competition open to the local barangays and other interested groups. The Open Division winners will each receive the following: 1st prize – Php 200,000, 2nd prize – Php 150,000, 3rd prize – Php 100,000. The local barangay participants on the other hand will also get Php 150,000, Php 100,000, and Php 75,000 for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places respectively.
Even though Kadaugan Street Party is still a young festival in the Philippines, its capability to draw a crowd of more than 400,000 people is praiseworthy. People from all walks of life can expect something to relate to during all the merry-making activities. Music lovers will be treated with notes in melody courtesy of the 10 BisRock bands. Car enthusiasts will have a ball seeing car displays, restoration, set up, and audio enhancements. Foodies will surely fill their bellies with gastronomic delights during the Gourmet Walk featuring various resorts situated in Mactan Island. What is an event without fireworks display? See the night sky light up with wonderful colors as the fireworks display will close the festivities with a bang!
Music and fun will fill the island with a whole new vibe! You can party all night long with disco music by various radio and local TV stations. M.L. Quezon National Highway will be closed to allow people to have more fun in the streets.

April 26, 2013
- 7:00 AM – Road Closure (from April 26, 7 AM – April 28, 4 AM) and ingress at M.L. Quezon Highway (Lane from old bridge to new bridge)
- 2:00 PM – Photo contest at City Hall lobby (registration)
- 7:00 PM – Cosplay contest at M.L. Quezon Highway (Booth number B93-B96)
- 7:30 PM – Reyna Bulakna at 360 stage in front of City Hall
- 8:00 PM – Higante parade will start at Sports Complex, around the street party venue and back to 360 stage near City Hall
- 9:00 PM – 3:00 AM – Live band concert and street party (disco/concert) at the Centerstage and 12 different stations along the M.L. Quezon Highway
April 27, 2013
- 4:00 PM – Car show at City Hall
- 5:00 PM – 12:00 MN – Road closure of M.L. Quezon Highway (lane from new bridge to old bridge)
- 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM – Rampada Street Dancing (Rampada & Bulakna awarding) will start at Sports Complex, around the street party venue and back to 360 stage near City Hall
- 10:00 PM – 3 AM – Live band concert and street party (disco/concert) at the Centerstage and 12 different stations along the M.L. Quezon Highway
- 12:00 MN – fireworks display at city hall area and at the foot of the two bridges
