BURP Food Tasting Competition to Excite Cebu Food Industry

All aspiring food entrepreneurs out there must rejoice because BURP is going to rock your world!

What is BURP all about?

BURP is Cebu’s very first Food Tasting competition which will highlight a feast of gastronomic wonders! It is organized by Events Avenue.

BURP is suppose to happen on June 21 to 22 starting 3 PM – 9 PM but due to bad weather, the event will be postponed to July. For the final schedule, keep posted with this blog.

The Aim of BURP

The goal of BURP is to show to the public the young and aspiring food entrepreneurs of Cebu, as well as helping them in cultivating fresh concepts for food business. They will be assisted in observing the trends of the market before going full speed in their operations. This event will also serve as a common ground for these fresh entrepreneurs and potential clients.

BURP participants will be the aspiring entrepreneurs while the prospective visitors will include fellow businessmen, food industry retailers, caterers, food and beverage service providers, cafe owners, restaurant owners, housewives, professionals, HRM students, business and culinary students.

The 2 day event will highlight live bands, flair tending demonstration, cooking and baking exhibition, inter-school culinary challenge, cupcake & cake display, and food eating challenge.

Who are Qualified to join BURP?

BURP Food Tasting competition is open to all aspiring food entrepreneurs who has been in the food business of not more than 5 years. Each contestant has to prepare 500 samples of food entries per day and a maximum of 2 entries will be given as well.

The food entires will be judged separately by the panel made up of culinary students, cafe or restaurant owners, food bloggers, and chefs.

Awesome prizes await the winners; cash prize of Php 10,000, supplier contract from a famous cafe in Cebu, online support from food bloggers and a whole lot more!

The criteria for judging of BURP will be 60% for taste and 40% for presentation. 70% of the scores will be taken from the resident judges while 30% will be taken from the foodie judges.
